Several PALEX employees received Certified Localisation Professional (CLP) Certificates from The Institute of Localization Professionals (TILP). This certification program, launched in May 2008 for the purpose of developing professional practices in localization industry, is gaining popularity in the industry with over 100 people already certified.

Palex viewed this as a good opportunity to certify the professional knowledge of its individual employees in addition to corporate ISO certification.

"Although Level 1 certification is intended for newbies and therefore provides basic knowledge which we already had, it was a nice chance to revise and systematize the basics and to check if we have any gaps to fill’, says Julia Otmakhova, Palex Linguistic Expert. ‘Another goal of going through this certification was to compare our local education initiatives with the program developed by industry experts and look for the ways to cooperate in this field. Overall, it was quite a useful experience”

To obtain Level 1 certification, participants need to complete 10 on-line modules as well as on-site training and pass a certification exam. Successful candidates become TILP associate members and receive permanent licenses for Alchemy Catalyst and SDL Trados 2009 as well as the possibility to pass an exam for SDL Trados certificate.

Level 2 (Advanced) course and exams are expected to be launched at the end of 2009, and Level 3, aimed at professionals, is going to be released in 2010. Palex plans to further support certification of its employees and is looking forward to the time these programs become available
